Wholesale Whitecurrant Plants
Whitecurrants are rarely seen although the fruit are sweeter than Blackcurrants. And although we say sweet, they are simply 'less tart' than their black relatives. And as for being white, try a pale clear yellow.
Fruiting in spring, these palnts are simply a random sport of Ribes rubrum. You can eat them fresh, although like most currants thaye are used for jams, preserves or dried.
Solsd are bareroot plants in winter, look for good cnaes with a reasonable root system, and you will get these from reputable suppliers. Plants generally require 2 - 3 years to fruit in quantities. Whitecurrants are deciduous bush and when in full production produce masses of fruit. They are self fertile and can be planted around 4 - 5 ft apart.
They do tend to get a little tal, so prune back to 3 - 4 ft each year once established.
Generally easy to harvest and much in demand for the health giving properties. Like all currant bushes, the white ones attract beneficial insects to the garden in spring, including bees.
